C’est Sandro

A couple of years ago, I worked for the French brand, Sandro. The label was launched in 1984 by Didlier and Evelyne Chétrite, a husband and wife duo. Evelyne, alongside Ilan Chétrite her son, also designs the collections. The collections have a Moroccan edge, inspired by the years that Evelyne spent living there, but it all comes down to effortless Parisian cool. Her son Ilan, started the menswear collection in 2008, which has gone from strength to strength in the past five years.

My love for Sandro goes back to before I worked for them however. I lived in France for a year back in 2010. There was a girl in one of my classes with the most incredible camel coat. I was completely obsessed with it! We were actually paired together for a project and being as nosy as I am, I asked where she bought it. Turns out not only was the coat from Sandro, but most of her wardrobe was. A couple of weeks later I stumbled upon the Sandro store in town, along with Zadig and Voltaire, and was instantly obsessed. At the time I was super poor as students should be, and couldn’t afford anything. I returned from France in April and in May, Sandro opened in Ireland for the first time. Coincidence? I think not.

By June, I was working in the second Sandro store. I have been lucky enough throughout my time in Sandro to collect some amazing pieces and have bought a few more since leaving to do my college finals. I love the effortlessness of the Sandro label. The throw it on and your ready feel to it, but also the elegance in the fabric and the cut. It really is a beautiful label. So today I thought I would show you some of my Sandro pieces that I’m obsessed with.

The first two photos above show the coatigan, dresses and silk blouses that I love. You can see the Moroccan influences in the coatigan (heavier that a cardigan, lighter than a coat) especially in the colours and design. The dresses I love. Any time I need to look really smart, the black dress is my go to. Perfect length with great tailoring, it always gives me a boost. The wine dress I bought for my cousins wedding last summer, but I also ended up wearing it to my graduation. Again, it has amazing tailoring, the cut is perfect and its ideal to wear all day. This particular design they bring out in different colours every season so keep and eye out for it. The two silk tops are great. I love the uneven hemline on the tee shirt with the ruffle. The shirt is super comfortable and features unusual detailing on the shoulders which makes it different from the run of the mill shirt.

The top in the above photo is one of my all time  favourites, Again, its 100 percent silk but what I love about it is the colours. I would have never put blue and orange together but it just works. What you cant see is the amazing back to this top, so I’ll feature it in an outfit soon so you can see that. The leather skirt above I’ve already shown you guys in other posts. Love it so much! The second skirt is a cute pencil skirt which came with a detachable leather dickie bow which I think is the cutest thing ever! The gold belt below has possibly been paired with every single outfit I own. It adds a lovely finishing touch to outfits.

So those are a few of my favourite Sandro things! Are there any other Sandro lovers out there who want to share their favourite pieces? I’d love to hear from you!
