Pastels, athletic gear, shimmering, iridescent fabrics, trainers, feathers, and a major focus on the waist. There was a lot going on at the Chanel SS14 Couture show. But it worked. Waists were clearly defined, making cropped tops and skirts look sophisticated as lace and other fabrics were underneath. It was demure without being boring.
Personally, I don’t feel I will be needing jewelled knee pads, fanny packs or elbow guards anytime soon, but they we a definite nod to the love of sportswear on the streets.
The colours struck me the most. Following from the catwalks in September, pastels were all over the Chanel show. This was mixed with inky black feathers on highly dramatized dresses and iridescent, sheer fabrics creating slim elegant gowns.
Have a look through some of my favourite looks from the show. What did you love?
