Everyday Beauty Routine

I’m a big fan of bold make up.

Bright pink lips, deep reds and purples, graphic liner, smokey eyes. I love anything dramatic. However, during the week for work, I’m pretty low key. When it comes to choosing between an extra 15 minutes in bed or doing my make up, my bed will always win. It’s super comfortable ok?!

One of the issues with this low key approach to make up, is the fact that I have rosacea on my cheeks. For those of you who don’t know, rosacea is redness on the skin. It has the oh so lovely effect of making me look like I’ve done some crazy work out all the time, or that I’m blushing about something. It’s something I’m pretty self conscious about. I really wish I could just be one of those people who wakes up, dabs on a little concealer and gets on with my day. But I’m not. As a result, quite a bit of effort goes into covering my redness without looking caked.

These are just some of the products I’m using at the moment, there are others I would consider essentials that aren’t pictured but I’ll go through them anyway. I am currently on the look out for a new primer. I was using the green Smashbox Photo Finish Colour Correcting Primer (super long name amirite?!), which I did like. But I think I want to try a new one, any suggestions?

I use the MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer. It’s in a little pot and is brilliant for colour correcting. It is a little heavy but I try not to be too heavy handed with it. My new foundation is Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, which I am loving. It feels really light on the skin and can be built up for better coverage which is exactly what I need.

The mini MAC strobe cream is great. A little dab here and there goes a long way and gives a subtle glow. Anything that can make me look more awake on a Monday morning is good by me! Speaking of looking awake, this Charlotte Tilbury Rock N Kohl Eye Cheat is essential for me. The creamy shade on my waterline makes my eyes look so much brighter! A little goes a long way with this lovely creamy liner. I want to get it in the Barbarella Brown shade too.

As I said, week days I like to keep things simple. I tend to stick to neutral lips and nails. I mostly wear the MAC Subculture Lip Liner. It’s nice and neutral and goes well with any nude lipstick I put on. My favourite lipstick lately is MAC Hue. For nails, I feel like you can’t go wrong with nude nails. They just look so clean and chic. Chanel’s Ballerina shade is my favourite at the moment. It’s a pretty sheer shade so you can go as opaque or not as you like.

That’s my general look during the week. I’m always looking for new skin care options or tips to treat rosacea, so if anyone has any, please comment below!
