The Parisian Beauty

Final beauty post for SS14, what a whirlwind it has been! Paris gave us some great new looks, some of which I am dying to try out, others that are great fun but not necessarily a day to day look! Lets have a run down of some of the best looks from Paris.

1. Eye Openers

Well immediately you know I’m going to want to talk about Chanel. Those eyes! Great big brush strokes of colours above and below the eye in greens, pinks, blues, yellows and black. An incredible look but one that I only think I will attempt to recreate for Halloween! Dior had another great statement eye, pairing gold with a light turquoise eye liner. The effect was modern goddess and can definitely be recreated to a degree. Rochas went for a light smokey purple eye which sounds awful, but as you can see from photo two, looks great. At Stella McCartney, brown eyeliner was used to extend the lash line creating an elegant look.

2. Heroic Hair

Valentino went for middle parted, low pony tails with an embellished hair band, this look is easy to recreate, with or without the hairband and always looks elegant. Chanel were obviously bolder with their flicked bobbed wigs with fringes that came in white blonde, black or chestnut brown. Giambattista Valli had a lovely simple look with disheveled french twists pulled away from the face. Dries Van Noten was a personal favourite of mine. I loved the sliver of gold in the parting of the hair. It was such a simple, clever idea and tied the make up in with the hair beautifully.

3. Silky Skin

Skin had more of a contour in Paris then we have seen in other fashion weeks. It was by no means heavy contouring, but more of a gentle, subtle contour that added dimension to the face in a non obvious way. Some shows went for a more matte finish to the skin. Personally matte skin looks awful on me, I need more of a mineral based finish as my skin dries out otherwise. Alexander McQueen stepped out of the box by creating lovely flawless skin and then spray painting the forehead with the colour deepening towards the hair line.

4. Love Kissed Lips

The nude lip is here to stay! Similar to London and Milan, Paris embraced the nude lip wholeheartedly. Some had a slight purple hue, some had a glossy finish, but all in all they were nude and natural. I believe New York is the only fashion week which had a red lip on the catwalk. So now you know, for SS 14, its nude, natural lips all the way!

5. Neat Nails

Nails were neat in Paris and generally in a block colour. Some designers went for the white/nude/grey look to compliment their collection. Chanel chose to go for a black nail polish. There were pops of colour in the form of oranges, turquoises and blues as well. Kenzo were the only line I saw that had nail art. It almost had an ombre look to it fading from white to monochrome, which, as we saw in every fashion week this season including Paris, is one of the biggest trends of all.

So there we have it. All your hair and beauty needs for SS 14 are all wrapped up. You can recap on New York, London and Milan if you want to decide what are going to be your defining looks of the coming season. If you feel that there is any other aspect of beauty that you would like me to cover for the next season of fashion weeks, please let me know.

I hope you enjoyed my reviews of the beauty in fashion weeks this season.
