Patterns, Prints and Plaid

I really like playing with different patterns and prints. I find I do it the most in the summer when it’s a little warmer and I’m feeling more adventurous. Apart from last Saturday, all of my looks from the week featured some sort of pattern or print. It must be a sign that summer is here!

It was one of my friends birthdays last Saturday and she was having a BBQ. Having been out the night before, I wasn’t feeling the greatest and wanted something really easy to wear. I mentioned in my previous birthday post that I would show you the COS dress my parents got me for my birthday and here it is. Apologies for the awful quality photo. The dress is light pink-beige and has a mid length cotton dress underneath semi sheer, longer fabric. I wore it with my new necklace, also a birthday gift, made by From Bud To Rose. It was so easy to wear and perfect for a summer BBQ.

It was a Bank Holiday on Monday which meant a lovely 4 day week. I went to a birthday lunch and ate way too much food. Seriously, I was still full on Tuesday. Thank god I wore these elasticated pants! I love the print in these pants as it’s quite subtle which is perfect for those days you don’t want to go all out with prints. I kept it simple with a plain black sweater and a gold necklace mirrored the pattern in the pants to tie the look together.

You may have seen this kimono I got a while ago. Its a great transitional piece because the base colour is black but the floral print is purples, blues, pinks and whites so it makes it more summery without being too bright. I tend to wear this with all black, as you can see. But I also think it would be great for the beach or a pool party to just throw on over a bikini.

Thursday was a gorgeous sunny day so I didn’t want to wear anything dark. The pattern here was my Nike Roshe trainers which I’m sure you’ve noticed by now that I adore them! Everything else I kept simple and clean and really comfortable.

Friday was a manic day for me. There was so much I had to do in work and it was non stop all day. Bearing that in mind, I threw on a super simple outfit that morning. A black cami and black jeans, which are pretty much my staples, and a red plaid shirt over it brighten it all up. I was so tired when I finally got home last night and was very glad that I hadn’t wore heels with all the running around I had to do!

I think it’s going to be a pretty chilled weekend for me. I have lots of things to organise for this week, some exciting posts coming up too! Also there’s the small matter of 13 new Orange Is The New Black episodes to watch. So excited that it’s finally back!

Have a great weekend!
