Halloween ’14 – Audrey Hepburn

We are officially in the Halloween countdown! Over the next seven days, including Halloween, I will be putting up a post a day with some outfit inspiration for you all. It’s such a fun time of year, so embrace it! Today I’m going to focus on Audrey Hepburn. Click any of the photos below to shop the look!

Anyone that knows me will know that Audrey Hepburn is my idol. I even dedicated a post to her earlier in the year. I can’t tell you how many times I have watched Funny Face, Roman Holiday and of course, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. If you’re looking for an elegant Halloween costume, then you have definitely come to the right place! It all starts with the dress. It’s important that the dress is black, high necked and sleeveless. The plainer the better as it is your necklace which will be the statement piece.

The necklace below is from H&M. What I would do to make it really show stopping is buy two and put spread them to the sides so that they cover your entire neck. I would also get two brooches and put one in the middle of the two necklaces in the style of the necklace Audrey wears, and then one in my hair.

Make sure that you keep all other accessories really simple. The jewellery is the main focus of this look. Cat eye sunglasses full length black gloves will finish the look with plain black shoes.

Now the make up for this look is all about the brows. Beautiful defined brows and fluttering lashes are central to this look. Define your brows and make sure you set them in place. Use liquid liner to create a cat eye and add lashes which give plenty of length. Keep everything else simple with a soft make up, a little blush and nude lipstick. When it comes to hair, this tutorial was probably the most straight forward one that I found. Don’t torture yourself over it! If you’re not good with styling hair you probably have a friend who is so ask them nicely!
