There’s so many things that I love about Dublin at Christmas and I thought I’d share a few things on Okaybee today with a week left until Christmas!
I Believe Après Ski
So I have been to this twice this year and loved it both times. It’s called Après Ski and it’s at CHQ in the IFSC, which is essentially the financial district. You can cosy up with blankets, mulled wine and hot spiced cider, treat yourself to some food from the Christmas market, and generally have a great catch up with friends. The staff couldn’t be nicer and the venue is gorgeous! Book online at I Believe.
Grafton Street Lights
Probably biased here but I think the best lights are on Grafton Street at Christmas! They’re so pretty and festive. One of my favourite things to do, when I’m not lugging around a lot of shopping and presents, is to get a coffee or hot chocolate and have a wander down Grafton street.
Window Shopping
As a child, I always remember a big part of Christmas was going into town with my parents to see the Brown Thomas Christmas window. As I’ve grown up I think it’s become more high fashion and doesn’t have the same wonder to it as it did before, but it still looks beautiful.
Mulled Wine
I am all about the mulled wine. I have a great appreciation for red wine so mulled wine is right up my street. There’s some great spots to sit and chill out with friends or family and some mulled wine. The Wine Cave is a lovely location and word on the street is they do chocolate fondue. The dream. Anywhere like Searsons is a lovely festive spot away from the shopping madness.
Shows
There are always amazing shows on in Dublin at this time of year. A classic Irish show to go to is the Pantomine, aka the panto. This year the Gaiety is performing Little Red Riding Hood. My sisters friend is dancing in the panto for the second year running so we are definitely going to see her!
Treats
So the new Laduree has opened up in Dublin and I couldn’t be happier! Macaroons are one of my favourite treats and something I always associate with this time of year as I buy a big selection every Christmas Eve for us to have over Christmas. In the new year, Laduree will open their tea rooms, but for now, get yourself down to their store on Wicklow street and treat yourself! Try the Vanilla and Pecan and you can thank me later.
Those are just a few of the things I like to do around Christmas time. I think the main thing to remember is to not get stressed about the shopping and presents. The main thing is that you spend time with your friends and family, the people you love. That’s what this time of year is all about. So pour yourself a glass of mulled wine, put on Home Alone and enjoy the time with the people you love!
